Love this book, I have a paper copy and kindle, refer to it all the time and I recommend this to clients in my talks.

Nothing much in the book that's specific to healthcare. Mostly talks about generic IT BI practices and has only a few healthcare examples. It can very well be applied to any industry. If you ar looking for a good Guide on how to set up a BI practice, it is a good book, however if you are looking for something deeper specifc to healthcare, it may not be. I was disappointed.

Well written, pertinent, easy to follow.

Great book!

Laura does a great job of explaining the keys to a successful BI project that a business person can easily understand. Not only does she highlight the importance of good leaders, solid executive sponsorship, investing in the right tools, commitment to data governance, and excellent communication but she is able to apply her extensive healthcare experience and point out important subtleties that you need to keep in mind. What stuck with me was the importance of a leader, along with characteristics needed to ensure a successful project. Definitely a great read for anyone considering BI or if you have an existing BI solution.

Had to buy for my DNP Business Intelligence Class. The information is good if you like Business intelligence. While I understand the importance, it is a bit dry. The writer provides excellent examples and tries to make the reading fun. Overall, it is a good book.

Laura Madsen's book provides a good primer on the topic of business intelligence data and software for the healthcare industry.She defines "BI" and the major tenets of using that for healthcare. In addition to the main book material, Laura provides a full appendix of useful information as well as a companion website with electronic content.Laura stays at a high level and does not dig too much into details. This should be a good read for healthcare executives considering a BI project or for those new to the BI topic.

Came in great condition, was a required book so it's hard to report on reading for pleasure! But it did the job, got the A in the class. The book came in great condition so no complaints there!
