I bought this book in hopes of trying to make sense of my own childhood. I was satanically tortured and raped my entire childhood too. I experianced a life very much like Paul did. I always wondered why I couldnt trust adults and why they always wanted to hurt me and millions of other unanswered questions as Paul probably had too. I cant put this book down and I cant stop crying. I know exactly what Paul is going through because I been in that world of fear and abuse my entire childhood. This book will touch your heart. It does 2 things. It shows how adults really are in the world. The evil side of adults they dont want us to see. Unless were the ones theyre hurting. It shows what adults are capable of doing to small children just because they have the power. Second is it shows just how strong children are and what they can endure under extreme tribulation and torture. Well we are the survivors of this horrible ordeal and no man not even Jack (Paul Mason's dad) Can take our self worth. We deserve to be loved. Just like Paul, I grew up and defended myself and ended my abuse for good. If Paul ever reads this rating, Know that even if you still feel no one loves you, God loves you and he did love you from the very first time Jack put you in the cupboard. God loved you enough to give you John to protect you as much as he could. God emediately cried and started forming plans for Jack right then and there because God loved Paul Mason ans till does. Jack will not win against God. Jack will reap what he sews. He will recieve judgement for every injustice you ever faced Paul. May god be with you Paul and may God be with all the other suffering children in the world. I recomend this book to anyone seeking to find answers to their own childhood trauma or for those wanting to understand how child abuse works and why it exists.
Every word in this book will become burned into your mind like a hot branding iron on skin. This haunting story will never leave you, it is a bell that cannot be unrung - the images you will conjure in your mind cannot be unseen. Sometimes that is a good thing. May you never become the person to tell a child that he/she is lying when they say their parent rapes/beats/molests them. May you never be the family member that turns a terrified blind eye to a child in your family tree who is exhibiting these same emotional distress signals simply to spare yourself from the knowledge no one wants to bear. You can't attempt to reconcile in your mind how any sentient being could inflict this kind of damage on anything that breathes - it literally causes pain trying to comprehend it and you will find no answer.Demons are not myth, they existed in his world and right at this very moment; taking the form of an empty, hollow shell masquerading as a human being. After reading this book your blissful innocence to this fact becomes destroyed much like the author's own innocence. The worst burden of this knowledge is that while you read his harrowing tale you realize that at that very moment children are living in the same hell - and worse. I will keep Paul Mason in my heart forever and hope that he can find peace one day - him and every child now living a nightmare.
This was a very sad but touching story. It left me in tears for the little boy (Paul) and his brother (John). Make sure you have tissues handy when you read because if you don't cry then you are not alive. No child should ever be treated this way. Paul Mason is a rock and if he reads this review I want him to know that his book made me feel like I was there going through the nightmare he experienced.
This was probably the most disturbing testimony of child abuse. The author had great courage to speak of his experiences and to shine a spotlight in dark places. At least it shows that evil can be hidden among even the most respected leaders, workers and professionals, even neighbors. Maybe this expose can open up eyes to be aware of possible abuse around us.

It was well written and made u feel.like u were there, feeling the pain Paul and John endured. It has taken me a year to read this book because the details were so vivid I often cried. After I decided I was going to just bite the bullet a d read it , it only took me 2 days to go from chapter 1 to the epilogue. I rooted for Paul and John throughout the book. Paul, you are an amazing man and I'm happy you stood strong for your children and grandchildren.
I would recommend this book. It was very sad how his own father a police man could treat his own child the way he did. It makes you wonder how any parent who is suppose to love & take care of their children can be so cruel. This was a really good book.
Heartbreaking, but inspiring. Paul, his brother John and his Mother (Mam) as well as other children were ungodly abused at the hands of Jack ,the father figure in the household and his cohorts ; who were in positions of establishment power that justly deserve the death penalty. The family suffers all their lives but survivors none the less. Wake up and step in when you see unnatural actions of children and come to their defense, it just may be their life that is saved.
